the remainder of the KRH Battlegroup destined for Ex PRIARIE STORM 2 (A, D and Sp Squadrons) enjoyed the correspond- ing respite in activity which enabled low level squadron train- ing and a focus on administration. C Squadron, destined for Ex PRAIRIE STORM 3 with the 1 YORKS Battlegroup two months behind the remainder, prepared for and deployed to Castlemartin independently.
The Battlegroup deployed to Canada in June in order to conduct the 36 day validation exercise, before assuming the role of LABG. Towards the end of June, while on the prairie, the Government decided to deploy the LABG to Poland as part of the UK contri- bution to NATO Immediate Assurance Measures. This added focus to our activity and initiated a certain amount of concur- rent planning. Following a successful and rewarding exercise, the Command team returned from Canada as early as they could to conduct the rst of three recces to Poland. A well deserved summer leave was enjoyed until the second week in September, after which plans were developed in order to start deployment to Poland mid-October.
We deployed to Zagan Training Area, in south-west Poland, in order to conduct bilateral training under the command of 10th (Polish) Armoured Cavalry Brigade. We used vehicles from unit lines and stored eets in the UK and Germany. The break-out
