                                   CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
On Sunday 11th September at
Coronation Gardens we gathered
to observe that through the sorrow
of death, newness of life comes.
In the distress of our nation at
the demise of Queen Elizabeth II,
we celebrated the accession of a
new king, King Charles III. The community came together in this
time of sorrow and it was lovely to see so many people at the Proclamation. The Rector of Thrapston, Revd Nolan Robson lead the prayers during the service. I would like to thank everyone that attended.
With summer now firmly behind us and the colder months setting in it’s time to start looking forward to our next big events in the town.
On Sunday 13th November to mark
this years’ Remembrance Day Thrapston Town Council will join The Royal British Legion and other local groups in the annual procession. The procession will start from the Fire Station at 2.45pm and everyone
will process to St James’ Church for the Remembrance Service at 3pm. Following the
service the process will head back to the Fire Station before falling out.
We have the Annual Firework Display on Saturday 5th November at Castle Playing Fields, starting at 7pm. If last year’s display is anything to go by then we should all be in for a lovely evening! Please remember that we put the display on free of
charge for residents of Thrapston. There will be a charity bucket collection to raise money for good causes. Please donate what you can and support The Haemophilia Society UK whilst you enjoy your evening.
Our next event following fireworks will be the annual Christmas Festival. This year, our festival takes place on Saturday 26th November from 3pm with activities along the High Street and a Christmas Fayre in the Plaza. The festival is a great chance
to get together with family and friends to watch the lighting of the Christmas tree and welcome in the festive season.
Our final event for 2022 will be the ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ pantomime on Saturday 3rd December at the Plaza. The performance will start at 3pm. It will be great fun for children of all ages (and adults!), a real family event! You can find out more information about this event overleaf.
Kind regards, Councillor Craig Wheeler Thrapston Chairman and Mayor
