                                 SOCIAL MEDIA COMPETITION
We received an incredible response
to our social media competition #BiodiversityInBloom whereby we invited allotmenteers from across the UK to share videos and photos of their thriving, biodiverse plots on social media for the chance to win 1 of 3 £150 vouchers kindly sponsored by our insurance partner, Chris Knott.
The competition saw social media platforms turn into virtual galleries of vibrant green spaces teeming with life. Selecting winners from such a rich array
of entries was no easy task. One of the lucky winners, Garden Gate Allotment Project, created a wonderous series of educational content including pollinators, discussing habitat creation and produce alike. Angela from the Garden Gate said: “We loved taking part in the initiative and it has generated loads more ideas on how we can further increase biodiversity on our allotment.The prize voucher is especially welcome as we’ve just started developing

2024 marked the 22nd year of National Allotments Week, set up by the National Allotment Society to raise awareness and promote the benefits of allotments. This year’s event, held from August 12th to 18th, was more than just a celebration of allotments; it was a powerful reminder of the role they play in preserving and enhancing biodiversity, offering a unique blend of expertise, environmental
stewardship, and community spirit.
National Allotments Week 2024 was a resounding success, with participation from thousands of allotmenteers, community groups, and local councils across the UK.Throughout the week, allotment sites across the UK buzzed with activity.Workshops on creating pollinator-friendly gardens, building insect hotels, and cultivating equality were just some of the many events designed to educate and inspire.
Allotmenteers shared tips on organic gardening practices that promote soil health and biodiversity, while visitors explored plots teeming with life, from buzzing bees to colourful butterflies.
