  26TH REGIMENT ROYAL ARTILLERY
SSgt (SSI) T Kirby RAPTC
“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.”
Upon departing from the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT), I assumed the new role as SSI for 26
RA in Larkhill. So far it has been a tough, but enjoyable journey, trying to establish myself within the unit. Like most units, 26 RA is a very reactive one with the ongoing commitments being an Multi-Launch Rocket System (MLRS) unit currently deploying all over the world. My aim is to focus on the positive aspects regarding Physical Training, Sport and Adventurous Training and maintaining the readiness for all personnel.
Upon completion of Ex LIGHTNING STRIKE in Israel, 159 (Colenso) Bty conducted Ex COLENSO ESCAPE which utilised time within a busy schedule to conduct a multi-activity AT package in Troodos, Cyprus, catering for over 50 of their Service Personnel (SP). The AT was aimed to push SP to their limits in a safe but testing environment as well as promote interest in AT.
Congratulations to SSgt Ewens (far right) who has supported the Regimental Cross-Country team throughout the season, if it wasn’t for his hard work and perseverance, 26 RA would not have competed in the Cross-Country season. SSgt Ewens was also selected to run for the Army and UKAF Cross Country teams.
Under Cpl Gurung RLC, 26RA conducted a 5km Doko Challenge where SP marched over the Larkhill training area

This year has proven difficult in many respects. However, ‘we’ as a Corps have shown diligence to be reactive and
adaptive to all aspects of health and fitness. Esprit de Corps!
