SING ALONG
Oundle Musical Theatre Choir
First started in September, the choir has been a roaring success already. Members have made new friends, grown in confidence, improved their voices and learnt new skills. The choir have had some fantastic opportunities including being invited to perform
with Gareth Malone on his UK tour, performing at Boughton House and
Oundle St Peter’s Church. The choir
have raised over £800 for a wonderful
local charity: Thomas’s fund that
provides musical therapy for children with life limiting and life-threatening conditions.
The choir is open to keen singers who love Musical Theatre and want the chance to work with a professional Vocal Coach whilst enjoying “belting out showtunes together”.
Musical Director Lindsay Dalton who has enjoyed a career as both a performer and Vocal Coach explains the unique offering and benefits of singing and group work: “Singing is so good for mental health; we all benefit from singing and from the social aspect of singing together. People have told me singing is the best part of their week, and that it relieves stress. I know what joy singing can bring and I want to enable as many people as possible to experience that joy! We have a lot of fun together, there’s always lots of laughter and it’s a friendly group.”
The singers also learn to get the most from their voices. We cover breathing, resonance,
posture and range alongside vocal health and we are looking for people who are enthusiastic about musicals! Rehearsals take place at Oundle C of E Primary School on Tuesday evenings

7.30-9pm.
You don’t need any experience – this
choir is for all levels, and you’ll be made to feel welcome and part of the community from the get-go.
The community element is a big part of being in a choir. From having a laugh
and a catch up at the pub after our session to optional performances within the community- there’s always something fun going on!
The choir also organizes masterclasses with west end stars and theatre trips! We are offering free taster sessions so you can try for yourself!
This term we are embracing the excitement of Wicked, having some lighthearted fun
with Hairspray and learning the beautiful arrangement of ‘When you Believe’ from Prince of Egypt.
Members have access to amazing resources so they can learn the music in between our sessions and each session is live streamed, so anyone who can’t make a session in person can still join in, from our private members group.
