Last year we managed to meet up between lockdowns and Dot Ritchie laid a wreath at QAIMNS Nurse Hook’s grave in Chickerell, Weymouth. We then had a lovely lunch at Upwey Wishing Well.
Our weekly 1800 Saturday meetings continued until June providing much needed friendship, support and contact during the lockdown. We have had such interesting and varied talks; to name just a few, Op Telik and Op Herrick by Vivien Maiden and the Far East by Sue Verow, Moreen Doyle, Pat McKay and Anne Grimwood. We were honoured to have Sharon Findlay, Defence Nursing Advisor speak to us. Jan Westbury, who works in research gave us a very topical talk about COVID-19 vaccine research studies. Caroline Duncan`s husband Ian gave us an interesting insight into the Talisker Whiskey Challenge. The meetings will resume again in the Autumn.
The highlight of the
year was undoubtedly the
garden party held in the
New Forest in June. Our
hosts were Jan Westbury
and her husband Terry
who provided such an
amazing venue and were
so hospitable and welcomed us into their garden. Strict safety precautions were adhered to throughout the day

and we all felt very safe. It was so special to see friends face to face. We started the day with drinks whilst watching the Trooping the Colour. This
was followed by lunch and then garden games which created so much fun and laughter. Games included mini golf and hook a duck and Jenga. Dorset apple cake, made by our Chair Marjorie Bandy, and lemon drizzle and ice creams were served during
the afternoon. Teas, coffees and other drinks were served throughout the day. We were all so grateful to Jan and

Terry and their helpers Moira and Bob Dixson.
