Crosses being taken overseas
The Juniors were asked by one of our parents to write messages on crosses he supplied, which he took with him overseas, see the story by Leading Cadet Michael Southall. 4 crosses were taken to Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, 3 to Hell Fire Pass next to the Myanmar Border and 1 to the Bridge over the River Khwea (Kwai). The Junior Cadets wrote a verse on the crosses and signed their names. Completing the task presented the opportunity of explaining the history of these events to them.
Lord Mayor’s Cadet appointed
Captain Christopher Case and Mrs Carolyn Case, the Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber, Councillor Mark Collinson and Royal Marine Cadet Corporal Jessica Case who was presented with a Badge to mark her appointment as Lord Mayor’s Cadet.
ARMED FORCES DAY IN HULL
The Ship’s Company was delighted to attend Hull Armed Forces Day. Visitors were able to learn how to tie knots, dress up in uniform and see what the Hull Sea Cadets had to offer. The cadets had great fun mingling with the “street artists” and having their photos taken with them! It was also great to welcome former cadets who dropped by to reminisce about their time as a cadet.
The gentleman with the “wind-up box” was interesting. It produced the sounds of War-time aircraft flying overhead which was so realistic, our first reaction was to look up! The machine also produced sounds of news bulletins from the War. The lady was decorative wearing a fabulous outfit!
