WOODMANSEY D-DAY EVENT
We were asked to help out at this D-Day event in Woodmansey, a village near Beverley, which was supporting National Charity SSAFA and local charity Hull 4 Heroes. This was an occasion which gave the Cadets the opportunity to wear authentic 1940’s uniforms collected and donated to Lt (SCC) Janice Spicer MBE RNR over the years. They were very much admired and the Cadets enjoyed helping out during the course of the day.
D-DAY SERVICE AT THE CENOTAPH
The Lord-Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, Mr Jim Dick OBE and the newly elected Lord
Mayor and Admiral of the Humber, Councillor Mark Collinson, accompanied by his Lady Mayoress, Councillor Christine Randall, attended the 80th D-Day Commemoration Service at the Cenotaph. The Lord Mayor’s Cadet is our own RMC Cpl Jessica Case but due to school exams, she was unable to be present. Instead, her colleague, Cpl Bronwyn Leake, carried out the duty instead.
Afterwards the Civic Party and members of
the Unit joined the Independent Merchant Navy (IMNA) at Hull Pier for their Service. In the evening representatives of the Ship’s Company were invited to take part in the Lighting of the Beacon in Hessle, East Riding of Yorkshire.
