Supporting our local community
By Pilot Officer Abigail Langton
250 (Halifax) Squadron Cadets, Staff and Civilian Committee members continued the annual tradition of supporting the Halifax Agricultural Show on Saturday 10th August. The show is the biggest of its kind in the local area and includes a range of farm and domestic animals, local produce, flowers, crafts, show jumping, vintage vehicles, local business stalls and a variety of demonstrations.
The cadets took part in tasks such as marshalling, helping in the horse jumping area, supporting the main arena and general duties around the showground throughout the day. They even got time to enjoy the show and took part in the Lamb National event. Thank you to our Civilian Committee who provided vital support with fundraising by running our busy stall selling their homemade (delicious!) sweet treats. Events like these allow us to engage with our wider community
in addition to giving cadets the chance to develop a variety of skills away from Squadron such as problem solving, leadership and communicating with the public. The Halifax Agricultural Society expressed their huge thanks to all at 250 Squadron who attended as they played a crucial role in the smooth running of the show. All the cadets worked extremely hard and were a credit to their Squadron and local community.

Visit by the Red Arrows to Batley Squadron
By Cadet Warrant Officer Jake Thomas
As Air Cadets, we share a passion for aviation and a commitment to high standards. So, when 185 (Batley) Squadron had the chance to host Wing Commander Adam Collins, the Officer Commanding of the Red Arrows, the cadets eagerly gathered to meet the leader of the team that exemplifies our shared enthusiasm.
The evening featured a presentation by Wing Commander Collins, who spoke about his career and the Red Arrows, including a detailed case study of their North American tour. This offered a unique insight into the operations of the Red Arrows, particularly their effective and distinctive debriefing techniques. Additionally,
the event offered cadets the valuable opportunity to ask Wing Commander Collins questions about the Red Arrows and the broader RAF, deepening their
understanding of our parent organisation. Corporal Marcus Nuthall said; “The visit from Wing Commander Collins was a great insight into how the
RAF works and more specifically the Red Arrows. He shared facts and information with us all that we would not ever have learned without
his visit. We all enjoyed it, and it was great to learn how they train and perform their airshows and manoeuvres.” We extend our sincere
thanks to Flying Officer Keiran Bennett for coordinating this incredible experience and to Wing Commander Collins for taking the time to visit
 the Squadron.
