EX SOLENT CHALLENGER1: A WEEK OF SUNSHINE AND SAILING
By Staff Sergeant Donna Nixon
Being an Adult Volunteer in the ACF isn't always easy, but this event was an exception!
Being on or in the water, is nothing new for our very own SSI Donna Nixon, and she can regularly be found leading cadets and other Adult Volunteers during water activities on our adventurous training packages. But, at the end of June, she left Yorkshire and headed down to Portsmouth to be part of an exhilarating sailing trip as part of EX SOLENT CHALLENGER1.
SSI Nixon joined 10 Cadets from across the UK for the Cadet Centre for Adventurous Training (CCAT) event: Ex Solent Challenger1 weeklong sailing adventure. Setting sail from Portsmouth, navigating to Cowes, Studland Bay, Alderney, Cherbourg (France), and Yarmouth, before returning to Portsmouth.
SSI Nixon shared her experience: "We were very lucky with the incredible weather and got to visit some amazing locations. It was a fantastic opportunity to support the development of our young people. A massive thank you to the team and the Tall Ships Youth Trust!"
