this photo (above right) with water nearly overlapping my wellies whilst battling against quite a strong flow of water. On the same
day the Far Cotton and St James districts of Northampton were very badly affected, some people having to flee upstairs in their houses and watch the water level quickly rise to, in one case, the fifth step.
History informs us that there are likely to be floods again locally although, hopefully, nowhere near as devastating as experienced previously.
My thanks to everyone who has made contact with me about these articles, especially Val who has put a name to one of the faces on the picture of St James’ Church Football Club in 1922, which appeared in the December issue.
