The good news – the boiler in Islip Church seems to be working so services have resumed. By the time you are reading this we will have started the season of Lent, traditionally a time for giving up something, a time of reflection and preparation leading towards Easter Sunday.
Half way through Lent Mothering Sunday was viewed as a time for a change from all
the fasting, a time to give Mums a day off and to celebrate all they mean to us. This year Mothering Sunday is on March 19th and we look forward to welcoming you to special services in each of our churches to give thanks for the gift of motherhood and all that it entails. Why not come and join us?
Mums, Dad, Grannies and childminders gather in St James Church every Monday morning in term time for a chance to chat, make new friends, enjoy craft making, listen
to a story, sing songs and enjoy refreshments. Under-fives and their grown-ups are always welcome at Praise and Play from 9.00-10.30am.
There is a warm welcome in St James Church every Tuesday morning from 10am-12noon. Come along for a cuppa, meet old friends and make new ones. We’d love to see you. We’re also there on Saturdays – 10am-12noon.
For those who want to attend, there is also a Tuesday Communion Service at 9.45am.
Knitting for Beginners meets on Monday evenings from 6.30-8.00pm in St James, Thrapston and is a group where you can come along and learn how to knit or crochet. It’s free, a lot of fun and those teaching have plenty of patience. No need to book or even bring your own knitting at the beginning. For more details contact Sue on 01832 733717.

During Sunday services in St James, Thrapston, we run JAMES Club for primary school age children to learn about Jesus. For those in secondary school our Youth Bible study group also meets during the services on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month. New members and visitors are always welcome.
