Thrapston Rotary Club
The Rotary Club distribute money to Youth Groups in our area
The summer has been a busy period for
the local rotary club. The Rotary year ends in July and, as usual, was marked by the distribution of donations to deserving causes. This year the main focus was on Youth Organizations and Mike Turner, our 2017-18 President was active in presenting cheques to several groups in the Thrapston and Raunds area, including the Scouts and Guides in Thrapston. Mike also visited Trinity Aldwincle School, and other schools in our area to present certificates to runners up and the prizes to the winners of their Rotary Royal Wedding Young Writer Competition.
Rotary was represented at the Charter Fair. A new feature was the presence of members from our new “Satellite Club” which is now actively recruiting younger
men and women in, roughly, the 25-50 age range who want to make a difference to this community and wider afield. The intention
is that the satellite club will create it’s own way of doing things, frequency of meetings, and the community and charitable matters they wish to support, whilst at the same time adhering to the principals of Rotary. One essential ingredient will be to have fun!
Robert Howe has now become the Club President for 2018-19. Robert presented

“Rotary Stars” to community spirited infant aged pupils at one local school who had been recognised as “Best Mates” by their fellow pupils. A very hot day in August saw seven of us in the team launching and recovering boats and sailors at Grafham Water “Sailability”. Whilst the water had a mild cooling effect for those actually in the water, chest high waterproof waders and buoyancy aids definitely didn’t!
