Volunteer Action
Volunteer Action is a local charity supporting local residents who may be elderly, unwell, disadvantaged or have disabilities. By providing services to these valuable members of the community, our aim is to maintain independence and improve the quality of their lives.
The community car scheme is run by volunteers within the community of Oundle, Thrapston and the surrounding 48 villages. We provide a driving service for medical trips to the elderly or vulnerable – in addition to a newly launched befriending scheme that is designed to help combat loneliness.
We are always looking for volunteers to help provide support across the geographical areas we cover – are you looking to keep your skills up on the computer or enjoy speaking with people on the phone and want to help support
the local community? We would be delighted to hear from you to join our team of office volunteers.
Funding is becoming less available for the third sector and without a public transport link for our community we are seeing a rise in the amount of requests for transport to hospitals, doctors or dentists. If you feel you could help by donating a regular amount of £2 per month
