GIRLGUIDING
in Thrapston
Girlguiding has been a part of Thrapston life for over 100 years. The girls and the badges may have changed over the years but the Girlguiding ethos of helping all girls know they can do anything has remained the same.
In Thrapston we are lucky to have a thriving Brownies and Guide unit. We would love to get
a Rainbows Unit up and running as well as we know there are girls in the area that would like to join. To do this we desperately need volunteers.
By volunteering with Girlguiding you’ll
be helping girls build their confidence, have adventures and learn new skills. It doesn’t matter what your experience or background
is, or how much time you have. Volunteering for Girlguiding is a great way of meeting new people and taking a break from your daily routine. Anyone can volunteer and there’s no requirement to have been involved in guiding before. Parents looking to volunteer at their local unit could join a parent rota or help share a skill or passion. We also welcome students and teenagers looking for a volunteer opportunity to build their CV and develop skills for the future.
Over the last year the Brownies and Guides have had some fantastic adventures. They have
canoed on the river, cooked pancakes on tins, taken part in Christmas carols on the high street and learned how to make a campfire.
Thrapston leader, Starlight Owl, met a lovely (real life) Tawny Owl and the girls got to try pond dipping. The Brownies love to get involved with games and have fun completing activities from the Girlguiding programme.
One of the Thrapston Guides had a fantastic opportunity to travel, with selected Guides from across the Midlands, to the Isle of Man as part of a special Girlguiding event. Taking part was
a fantastic experience and just one example of the amazing opportunities on offer with Girlguiding.
