 Dewsbury (96) Squadron ATC
 secures £1000 donation
By Phil Toczek
Dewsbury (96) Squadron are delighted to announce that a donation of £1000 has been secured from the Ajvir Singh Sandhu Leadership Foundation (AjvirLF). This donation will support the purchase of specific items for the Squadron that help cadets develop and share their leadership skills.
The Squadron is committed to a long-term relationship with the Ajvir LF and to continually promote its values amongst the Dewsbury air cadets and the wider community in West Yorkshire.
The vision of the Ajvir LF is of a world where motivated young people (aged 11-25) will reach their full potential as leaders. Throughout their journey with AjvirLF they will experience opportunities to combine their ambition with determination and integrity; whilst sharing their skills to help others grow. The AjvirLF supports organisations and individuals where
leadership potential can be developed and implemented. Interest in funding from the foundation can be expressed in the first instance by email to contact@ajvirlf.com
Amongst the activities
we intend to undertake
include Flying, Gliding, Adventure Training, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, First Aid, Shooting, Fieldcraft, Sports, BTec Level 2 in Aviation Studies, Band, STEM, Leadership Training, Radio and Cyber Communications, in addition to visits to RAF Stations!

SWY Wing ATC REMEMBRANCE EVENTS
By Flt Lt Kellyann Martin
2490 (Spen Valley) Squadron attended, together with 168 (City of Leeds) and 96 (Dewsbury) Squadrons, November’s Festival of Remembrance at Morley Town Hall, south Leeds.
It is an annual event, and always entertaining and poignant.
The musical event was followed by Remembrance Poppy Selling the next day for the Royal British
Legion at Hartshead Moor Motorway Services. The local branch of the RBL are always really
chuffed when we volunteer every year – they reckon having young people there in uniform helps raise more money!
Good volunteering also for the air cadets, building up their confidence, social interaction with the public – and selling skills!
