Exercise Winter Warmer
In November Army and RAF Section cadets travelled to Warcop Training Area in Cumbria for Exercise Winter Warmer, the first camp of the academic year. For the majority of cadets this was their first experience of a cadet training camp.
It was an intensive weekend with the main focus being assessing new recruits in two elements of their classification syllabus; Foot Drill, Turnout and Weapon Handling. During the weekend the more senior cadets attended an Emergency First Aid at Work course.
The cadets also enjoyed taking part in problem solving games and command tasks, helping to develop their leadership and communication skills and also providing plenty of laughter.
It was a very successful weekend, the new Army Section recruits achieving their Half Star badge, RAF Section recruits now have only the Airmanship module to complete before they are eligible for flying experiences and the senior cadets achieving Emergency First Aid at Work badges.
  Remembrance Parade
This year QE CCF held their Remembrance Service in the College’s Kings Theatre.
The cadets had been rehearsing and preparing their uniforms in the weeks leading up and their turnout was immaculate. The Colour party were marched in by piper Rachael Blueman and the Standard Bearer was RAF Cadet LCpl Will Watkinson.
Emma Earnshaw, the Collegiate Spiritual Lead, conducted the service with readings from Cadet Lance Corporal Eden Cusack and Cadet Luke Ingram. Wreaths were laid by the Head of College, Kevin Oldershaw and the Contingent Commander, Major Steve Emerson (who is also Commandant of Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force).
The Last Post was played by Corporal Ben Holland of the Yorkshire Regiment. It was a very moving service and was very well attended by Collegiate staff and students. It was a wonderful way for QE to acknowledge this internationally significant event.

  PASSING OFF THE SQUARE
In December QE CCF held its annual Passing off the Square parade, it is an important event in the year where new recruits are presented with their beret and cap badge. This event is also a time to celebrate additional cadet achievements and promotions. We were proud to have as
our guest of honour this year, Acting College Principal Dan Machin.
Since September, both the Army Section
and RAF Section new recruits have undertaken training in two elements of their classifica-
tion syllabus’ Foot Drill, Turnout and Weapon Handling. For the Army Section, new recruits who passed these two elements when tested were presented on parade with their Half Red Star badge. For the RAF Section cadets who passed the assessment, they now have only the Airmanship module to complete before they are eligible for flying experiences.
After attending an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course in November, several cadets were presented with their green First Aid Badge and EFAW qualification, including Cadets Kaja Gillon, Luke Ingram, Alice Rowley and LCpl Cody Savage.
Following their gliding experience at RAF Topcliffe, Cadet LCpls Will Watkinson and Rhys Perry were awarded their Blue Wings.
For continually displaying commitment, leadership skills, willingness to take on respon- sibility and keenness to help others cadets, including Cadet Kaja Gillon, LCpl Macy Walsh and Cpl Hannah Wardman from the Army section were promoted to Lance Corporal, Corporal and Sergeant, whilst in the RAF section LCpls Rhys Perry and Will Watkinson were promoted to Corporal.
