REMEMBRANCE
SUNDAY – HULL
CENOTAPH
It was an early start at TS Iron Duke as cadets arrived, changed into their uniforms and were checked out to make sure their appearance was of the best standard. This paid off because the Ship’s Company received many comments from the public regarding how smart they looked on parade.
Our Lord Mayor’s Cadet, AC Josh Smith, and Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet, AC Ben Atkinson, were in attendance and a Duty Party handed out service sheets, collected for the Royal British Legion and assisted Veterans who had mobility problems. After the Service the cadets marched back to the Unit for a welcome lunch before returning home.
TS Iron Duke and
the Hull-Yorkshire
Maritime Project
We were asked to take part in this Project, which
is to re-develop the City’s major historic maritime assets. This is a Hull Council/National Lottery Heritage Fund collaboration. The Maritime Museum, Dock Office Chambers and North End Shipyard will be transformed in addition to the Artic Corsair and Spurn Lightship. The project hopes to have a positive impact beyond the City itself, with a strong emphasis on education, skills development, jobs creation , apprenticeships, and extensive volunteering opportu- nities. The CO, CPO (SCC) Sally Green was asked to take part in the Maritime Tales Week, which involved being filmed explaining who the Hull Sea Cadets are. The interview was filmed in the Ward Room of TS Iron Duke and we look forward to seeing the finishing product in due course.
Assisting The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
The Junior Cadets were invited to help the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal the day before the Remembrance Service. They attended the Willerby branch of Lidl and for the new Junior Cadets, this was their first experience of interacting with the general public. CPO (SCC) Freda Cheesman was on hand to supervise. The members of the RBL were very pleased with their help.

We don’t know who were behind the masks!
HALLOWEEN NIGHT
Cadets dressed up for this event and as a change from the usual “Covid masks”, more frightening ones were in evidence. At the end of the evening the Cadets were served hot-dogs before going home.
