So it does work after all!
other’s vessel and rectify any issues found. The instructors then completed a final check before allowing the craft into the water.
Prior to launching their vessels, the instructors had the cadets complete some warmup exercises. One of the exercises was to stand in a circle with your paddle standing upright, out in front. The instructor then issued the command left or right in which the cadets released their paddle and grabbed the paddle of the person next to them. The momentum of the command was increased and anyone dropping their paddle was eliminated until last person standing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this.
It was now time for both teams to launch their vessel. After some discussion between themselves on the best way to access the water they finally managed it, and everybody boarded safely without getting too wet.

challenges on the water which included confidence building by standing up and moving around the vessel, working as a unit to build on each other’s strengths and weaknesses and other exercises including the retrieving objects from the water before the other team.
There was a final race to the lakeside at the end
of the activity. All team members encouraged one another with a close finish and high fives all round at the end.
It was great see everyone getting involved, learning from each other and having a great time.
