former members of the SBS amongst his friends. His fundraising stood at £1,700.00 at the time of his nomination. He has also been involved in visits to Spean Bridge promoting South Yorkshire Cadets not just locally, but on the national scene; and was a guest speaker on a well-known YouTube channel hosted by a former Royal Marines Warrant Officer, where he discussed what it meant to him to be a cadet. Also, during Lockdown, he has been helping around his own community, ensuring the elder members have all they need.
ADAM LILL has attended numerous camps relating to adventurous training and music, and represented the North Region band at the prestigious Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC) dinner in 2019. Adam’s other passions are Shooting, Drill and Discipline, and he has attended all available Drill cadet courses and camps. At squadron he is responsible for the discipline of the junior cadets,
a task he enjoys immensely, where he is a true inspiration to his cadets, leading the way when volunteering for taskings regardless of the duty, allowing the cadets to be involved and engage with the squadron and wider community, and he takes an active leadership role both in teaching and the management of larger scale projects. He is one of the most pro-active cadets involved in fundraising for both the squadron and its charities. Through his efforts hundreds of pounds have been raised for worthwhile charities.
HARRY RIDSDALE has always been an active member of his unit and is one of the first to volunteer to help out with community events and fundraisers such as Armed Forces Day, Remembrance Sunday, Seafest and Church Parades amongst various other

engagements. His standards with dress and drill was rewarded when he was selected to take part in the Belgian Cenotaph Parade in London in 2019. He is an excellent mentor to the younger members of the Ships Company and has excelled with his Peer Education. He volunteers his spare time to help instruct sailing whenever he can to the other cadets and to some
of the staff members. He has a fantastic sense of humour that puts people around him at ease and never stops smiling, even when under pressure or out of his comfort zone. He has also taken part in offshore voyages on Jack Petchey, John Jerwood and the Corps Yachts, and has been a key member of the drill, sailing and rowing teams, representing the unit at National level and winning awards with the teams. He is aiming towards a career in the Royal Navy.
ROSIE NELSON has always had an active role within the ACF and her local community, often supporting the RBL and taking part in fundraising activities. Most recently she has supported her local community during the Covid-19 pandemic. This started by making face masks and donating them to care homes in her area, which developed into building a mini enterprise and selling the face masks to raise funds for charity. Alongside this Rosie has been an ambassador for Mental Health, frequently supporting her fellow cadets with offering mindfulness activities and ways to keep fit and healthy.
JOSHUA PEACH is a very active member of his unit, attending many community events, both to help
with the promotion of the unit and fundraising in addition to supporting other organisations such as the Royal British Legion and Cancer Research UK. He also makes time to support local events including the Standridge Gala and Mayor’s Parade. He is always willing to help and be involved at every given opportunity to promote the Sea Cadets and Wakefield unit. Throughout lockdown he has been a constant member of unit virtual parade nights, contributing and assisting with the delivery of training. As a Junior Sea Cadet received his Commodore’s Broad Pennant, the highest accolade available for a Junior Sea Cadet.
NATASHA CHAMBERLAIN has always shown great potential; being extremely keen and excited to get involved, no matter what the activity was. She demon- strated leadership skills from the start, which led to her rapid promotion. As a Lance Corporal, her initial responsibility within the Detachment was running
the NAAFI, but she then also took on the organisa- tion of the stores. Thereafter, her responsibilities continued to expand; they included managing other cadets, keeping track of NAAFI income/outgoings and discussing with the Detachment Commander her ideas about how to make the NAAFI better. She quickly found herself heavily involved within First Aid, and was given the role of Team Captain in the Christmas Camp competitions. She ensured all equipment needed was prepared in advance, and led weekly practice sessions with her team. In addition, she has represented her Company at Football, Athletics and Rugby Tournaments, and has also had the honour of being awarded County Sports Colours for Football after representing Yorkshire (N&W) ACF at a regional competition.
