additional five years of service. This medal was instituted in 1999 and replaced the Efficiency Medal (other ranks) and the Efficiency Decoration (officers). Officers were entitled to use the post nominals TD. The VRSM is not to be confused with the Queens Volunteer Reserves Medal (QVRM) which is a decoration awarded to members of the Reserves for exemplary meritorious service in the conduct of their duties. A maximum of 13 awards can be made in any one year. Recipients may use QVRM as post nominals. Three QAs have received the decoration since it was instituted in 1999.
Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Military) for Officers of the Regular Army
We congratulate the 125 officers of the Regular QARANC who have been awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Military) as listed in The London Gazette Supplement dated 22 October 2018. In 2016 the Government decided to extend the award of the LSGC medal to officers in recognition of their long service and good conduct. It is awarded initially for 15 years’ service with clasps for each additional 10 years of service. The same rules apply to each of the services, and brings officers who have hitherto not been recognised for long service into line with other ranks. The award is backdated to those in service in 2014. Space precludes listing all 125 QARANC recipients in this edition of the Association Gazette but all future awards will be listed.
