...to fight brain condition
The Pamper evening on 21st October, being organised by Suzanne Thurlow is to raise funds for 17-year-old Bradley Hadman, a student at Prince William School, Oundle to help him tick off as much as he can from his bucket
list and support them while he undergoes treatment for a stage four diffuse midline glioma on the pons area of the brainstem which was diagnosed in June this year.
Bradley has already undergone lengthy brain surgery which managed to remove 40% of the tumour, followed by weeks of radiotherapy,
but currently there is not a cure to Bradley’s condition and the average survival is just nine months.
His family have set up a gofundme page (https://www.gofundme.com/f/brads-brain- battle) and with the funds are looking into treatments in Germany and the United States, which come at a very high cost for the surgery, travel and insurance.
The family have put Brad on a drug called ONC201 which in the latest trial data is showing effective in approx 30-40% of cases at prolonging life and giving people more time.
They have discussed it with Brad’s consultant and agreed this is Brad’s best option in the
immediate here and now. However, the drug is not yet approved for use in the UK and therefore needs to be purchased privately from Germany at the cost of approx £5000 per month. His family are hoping and praying that treatments can be found that will keep it away as long as possible.
Currently (1.9.22) funds raised stand at £33,137. So come along to the Pamper evening and help raise funds for this brave young man.
