Make a difference...
It has been great to see potential new members at recent Rotary Club meetings and hopefully some of them will have decided
to join our club by the time this article has been published. We are always interested to hear from people who might want to become members! We hope to make a difference in our local communities and further afield, and over the years Thrapston and Raunds Rotary Club has raised large sums to aid local, national and international projects.
We also provide practical support in a variety of ways, and many readers may be aware that club members, and members of other local rotary clubs, supported the vaccine effort in Thrapston. Several of our members regularly help at the local Sailability Club at
International to a member who had made outstanding efforts in community service. To say that the member concerned was completely astonished to find that the award was given
   Grafham Water. Disappointingly
the drought has now begun to cause problems for this, and at the time of writing we had just heard that sailing had been cancelled.
We hope to make a difference in our local communities
to him would be an understatement. A very unexpected surprise, but congratulations go to Alan Dodds.
We continue to have very have interesting speakers. We were lucky enough to hear from David Culwick, the Chair of the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) at Five Wells Prison, Wellingborough. In a
Earlier David Kendrick attended the
Rotary Club of Thrapston and Raunds
meeting. One member thought that he
was just there, at the start of a new Rotary year, to congratulate our new club President and hear his plans for the year. He was also pleasantly surprised to hear David say that he was also there to present a special award from Rotary
fascinating talk, David explained the important role that the board carries out. All volunteers, the role of the IMB is to monitor the fair and humane treatment of prisoners, and the delivery of programs and living arrangements.
