                                 We never stop learning
Leeds Allotment Federation organised another Allotment Learning Day. These have proved to be very popular in the past. It was open to all allotment plotholders in the city and was free to attend with a fish & chip lunch provided!
The content of the event was varied with a number of stalls in attendance. The highlight of the day was a light-hearted but riveting talk on soil by Sarah Owen-Hughes, a well- respected Yorkshire horticulturalist. She also offered soil testing for delegates throughout the event.
I put up an NAS publicity stand, gave an illustrated talk and took one of the workshops for new plotholders.
A great day was had by all.

  NAS Yorkshire meeting
 Tom James receiving his Certificate
A meeting of the NAS Yorkshire was held recently in Goole in the East of the Yorkshire Region. The meeting was a live face-to-face meeting but in addition it was videoed as part of a Zoom meeting, which proved very successful.
A decision was made to hold subsequent meetings in the same format around our large region in venues in the north, west and south of the region.
In addition to moving the meetings around the region, ways to attract more participation were discussed, and it was agreed to try and arrange a tour around an allotment site in the vicinity of the meeting place to attract more participants, publicising the visit prior
to the meeting. As it happened, we were invited by the Secretary of Ilkestone Avenue Allotments, Goole for that very afternoon and a number of delegates readily accepted the invite (see photos).
At the outset of the meeting, Tom James was presented with an NAS Yorkshire Certificate for his long and dedicated support of the Yorkshire Region. A Certificate was accepted by John Kirk on behalf of Tony South for his service to the allotment movement by sharing his extensive agricultural and horticultural knowledge with plotholders in South Yorkshire. Thank you both for your dedicated support to the allotment movement.
