Barton Cadets show their Warrior Sprit
By SSI Katie Bolton
It was an early start for the cadets and adult volunteers of Barton Detachment, as they headed from the bank of the River Humber to Sheffield to take on the Ninja Warrior UK course.
After their safety brief, the team collected
a special pair of socks and the all-important Ninja Head band to look the part to take on the challenge.
Split into two areas, one not too dissimilar
to the set on the TV show, the other a giant inflatable course, with lots of obstacles to climb, up over and through in addition to plenty of slides to enjoy.
What everyone was really looking forward to was, of course, the wall, which the cadets and adults enjoyed attempting and conquering.
After a full on 90 minutes on the course the cadets were ready for a rest ending the session with lots of very happy smiling faces, albeit very red faced and hungry stomachs after all the fun and hard work.
Staff Sergeant Instructor Katie Bolton, the detachment commander, said, “the trip was a treat for the detachment after working so hard over the last few months. Everyone enjoyed the day and got a lot out of it. We’ll be back again, and I know the detachment are already looking forward to it.
BARTON DETACHMENT RECEIVE DONATION
On 29th April 2024 Barton Detachment had the privilege of hosting a visit from Barton upon Humber’s Mayor, Councillor Keith Vickers. The occasion was marked by a significant contribution to the detachment, as the Mayor presented a cheque totalling £2545.93. This generous donation signifies Barton Detachment's selection as one of his designated charities for the year.
Throughout the year, the cadets of Barton Detachment actively participated in various events, organised by the Mayor, to help raise funds. Notable among these events was their role as a Guard of Honour during the entrance of dignitaries at the Civic Service held in the local church.
The community spirit of the cadets and adult volunteers during the activities is second to none, which included attending a dinner night at the local curry house and the Civic Dinner alongside members of the E Company and County HQ teams.
During the visit, the Mayor took a moment to address the cadets before presentation of the cheque, expressing his profound gratitude and pride in their dedication. He commended their exemplary conduct at events, emphasising the importance of their
smart appearance and
self-confidence.
Staff Sergeant Katie Bolton, Detachment Commander said,
“I would like to
