North Lincolnshire Horticultural Society Show
North Lincoln Horticultural Society (NLHS) held its Annual Produce and Flower Show on the 18th September at the Lincoln Grandstand Community Centre. Despite the relatively short period of time available to organise the show, Society members responded exceptionally well in supporting this event.
There was an excellent turnout with some 26 exhibitors that entered in the classes bringing around 200 exhibits and providing a brilliant display of vegetables, flowers, and cookery; entries in the children’s classes resulted in the most innovative examples of monsters made from vegetables. The joint winners of Section 1 (vegetables) were Dave Seal and John Hudson; winner Sections 2/3 (Flowers/Floral Art), Bridgette Playford; Section 4(Cookery) Jason Hippisley; Section 5 (Children’s) Florence Hippisley, and finally Novice Gavin Towers.
Coffee and refreshments were available throughout and the buzz within the
hall and positive comments made this a most worthwhile event. Next year’s Show will take place on 10 September with an increased number of classes and prize money.

The North Lincoln Horticultural Society (NLHS) will hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 6th April at the Castle Ward Club Lincoln. Following the AGM at around 8pm, a buffet will be served and there will be a talk by Mick Poultney aka ‘The Compost King’. Following
the AGM, the evening is open to non- members of the NLHS, who will be most welcome.
