 MEMBERS IMPORTANT NOTICE
The NVS is looking at ways of providing our members with quick information, for example, in between editions of your quarterly SV Magazine. One method, aside from our Website or social media accounts (Facebook & Twitter),
is by email. For your information, over half of our members (1,218) have an email account, however approximately only a quarter of our members (631) ticked the appropriate “email” box on the consent form to enable us to actually email you. If you want to change your permissions any time (or are not sure if you ticked the box or no), please just drop me an email and I can check and update your consent records as required. It’s also important going forward, if you have an email address, to let us know it, especially if you currently pay your membership via direct debit or wish to do so in the future. You now have the ability to make these changes yourself through via our new website.
The NVS does have an annual certificate of cover from the ICO (Information Commission Office), which
can protect its members from unauthorised contact by individuals and organisations acting without NVS permission. Action can and will be taken against such activities on behalf of the member if required. The Trustees are always seeking ways of reducing running costs of the Society and improving the services and information provided to its members.
One such way is attracting on-line advertising from carefully screened, reputable and relevant companies in the horticultural sector with paid for advertising in NVS media and also support of other activities through sponsorship.
Where such companies request reciprocal membership data for the purpose of direct mailing, the NVS will no longer forward your details unless your consent has been given to do so.
A reminder for all members; please ensure that you help us maintain your correct data. If you change address, telephone number, mobile or email address, please don’t forget let your membership secretary & myself know Thank you. You now also have the ability to make these changes yourself online via our new website.
