 34 RACING REPORTS
RACING AT THE RSYC IN 2022
Welcome to all of our members to the racing section of TheYachter magazine
At the time of writing this at the end of June, we are now half way through the 2022 racing schedule and it’s been busy.
The Race Management Team (RMT) and Lisa Topley, our sailing secretary, have been working hard to administer and host racing for all since the start of the year. My thanks to Dave Martin, Lisa and all of the RMT for supporting racing activities and for teaching me the ropes: I am learning lots about how RSYC manage yacht racing, the end to end administration and activity that takes place to hold racing events.
We are in the process of planning our 2023 racing schedule, and we have requested feedback from our racing participants, past and present.
In August, the Race Management Team assisted with running racing at Cowes Week. We also had a practice session on 23rd July to iron out any issues.
One of the new events for 2022 was the Summer Regatta which was hosted at Gins on the 13th and 14th of August. We ran racing over this weekend in the Western Solent.
So, what’s been going on so far in 2022?
Well, from January to March we held our Frostbite Series in Southampton Water. Twelve races were scheduled and only half could take place; the weather being too windy for six of the races!
Nevertheless, the remaining six races were held and the seventeen participants enjoyed class racing on Sunday mornings. Congratulations to series winners Oliver Lane in Frank3 an SJ320 in class 1 and to
