Charlotte to present the “Dave Cartner Memorial Shield” for the North West Best Allotment to Eddie Porter, a representative of Marlborough Road Allotments. Following rounds of applause and clicking of cameras, a small presentation of gifts and owers were presented to the Cartner family for their continued support.
We also were delighted that our other sponsor J Maher Ltd was with us to present a fantastic prize of £100 to the
site. J Maher Ltd are based in Bolton and were established in 1973 by Rita and Jack Maher. They continue to be an independent supplier of horticultural products and much more to many allotments, bowling clubs and schools.
Jon and his team are always there to help and on many occasions will be out with deliveries, of oading wagons to help customers and placing products just where you want them.
Jon was pleased to be supporting this year’s competition and was proud to present a certi cate to this year’s winner, represented by Joe Cooke, who was also celebrating his 70 years young birthday. Further prizes were awarded for the runners up, Over allotments, Addison Road, Penwortham Home West, Settle Street and
Joe and his 70th birthday cake
Tindall Street. Each of these received a certi cate and prizes.
Jon said it was a pleasure to serve local allotments across the North West and that he was always here for the customer rst and willing to help wherever possible.
The second prize and runners up prizes went to Over Allotments, who received a £50 voucher; also a £25 voucher went to Addison Road Allotments, Tindall Street Allotments, Settle Street Allotments and Penwortham Holme West Allotments.
While this was our rst year running this new competition, we are already working on the plans for the next competition for 2016.
The North West panel prides itself
on working with members to improve allotments and we are very proud of our success. Sadly our Region Rep Andy Percival has now moved on and we would like to thank him for his commitment shown to the North West during his time spent as Regional Rep.
Our recent regional meeting expressed concerns at Andy leaving and decided
to elect a temporary representative. We welcome Mr John Irwin and are looking forward to working with him to ensure that things continue to move forward within the spirit of the organisation.
