Allotmenteers Liability Insurance
...new member benefit
This benefit is being created via an insurance policy purchased by the National Allotment Society to give up to £50k liability cover to all member plot-holders, accused of accidently causing injury or damaging property.
All fully paid up affiliate and individual members of NAS are eligible to contract in to this benefit. You might ask how an individual could enjoy this benefit when the local association buys insurance. Unfortunately there are a number of situations where members cannot rely on that assumption. Here are a few examples:
1) Perhaps the association insurance was not renewed but you were not told.
2) You are away from your site at an event when the accident took place so the
association insurance would not respond.
3) You might have caused injury or damage in an accident that could not be blamed on
your local association. For example:
a. you may have operated a lawnmower over gravel, causing stones to fly up
b. the head of your axe flew off unexpectedly
either of these situations could result in you being sued.
This insurance does not replace the association’s obligation to provide Public Liability Insurance

OBITUARY
Tom Maynard
Sadly Tom Maynard passed away following a deterioration of his health. Tom was a stalwart member of the Leeds Allotments Federation and had been very active throughout his time with the Federation. He had held many positions over the years from Treasurer, Secretary, Acting Chair and finally President.
Tom and I spent many hours together in the early days promoting allotments with a makeshift stand at many shows around Leeds, and judging allotments in the Leeds Allotment Competitions. He has put an awful lot into the Federation and the allotment movement in general over the years. R.I.P.
