marks the 20th year that the Manager WO1 (SMI) Kev Haley has represented the Army football Squad; again this is an excellent achievement and one that serves to inspire and challenge the rest of the squad.
With great pride we say farewell to a number of key players that have been with the club for many years; WO1 (SMI) Will Mckinsley, SSgt’s (SSI) Damo Curtis, Lee Addison and Paul Strickleton, have now hung up their boots for good. All four have RAPTC FC Caps
for over 50 appearances and they have been utter stalwarts over the last 10-15 years. Your service has been invaluable and you will be sorely missed.
The club remains in excellent shape, with much more to come from what is a young, talented and developing squad and we aim to be back in top flight football by the end of next season. We look forward to a pre-season training camp (OSV) to Gibraltar in Sep 18.
This year has been yet another successful period for RAPTC golf. The team started the season in typical fashion by competing in some friendly fixtures against our old friends at Dummer Golf Club and Petersfield Golf Club, not forgetting our military fixture against the RAC.
Come May it was time for the Festival of Golf, which took place at Donnington Valley Golf Club, Hotel & Spa. Over 30 members from the society attended the two day event which was a great success. Retired and serving members from the Corps travelled from all over the country to come and play a few rounds of golf with great company. We held the RAPTC Golf championships during this event with SSgt Alan Murray taking 1st place in the Serving Scratch competition and WO2 Jon Gow taking the Stableford title. For the association, Mel Swan took 1st place in the Scratch and Steve Bate won the Stableford.
As July approached it was time to focus on the Inter Corps Championships. With a few key players missing it allowed for new faces to gain some vital experience. The team lost their first match to last year’s champions and therefore were entered into the plate competition. The team pushed on and played a further two match’s and subsequently reached the semi-final. Overall it was a strong performance from all who took part.

Pushing into late September, 21 RAPTCI’s gathered for the WOs’ & Sgts’ Vs Officers fixture held at Lichfield Golf course in conjunction with the NMA Visit.
The year was finished off in style, with our overseas tour to Morocco. In November 2017 thirteen members of the RAPTC Golf Society embarked upon an overseas sports tour to Marrakech. In total the tour lasted 8 Days and we played 7 rounds of golf at 6 different golf courses.
The team assembled at Aldershot WOs’ & Sgts’ mess in time for the daft o’clock transport to the airport. All was going to plan apart
