This support is confidential and is therefore not seen in the public domain but these financial grants have helped to alleviate hardship and anxiety for the individuals concerned at times when it is needed most. This support is fundamental for the Association and should never be underestimated. If you are aware of any members of the Association who may need support please contact the Regt Sec in the first instance; any information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence.
RAPTC Branches. The RAPTC Branches continue to provide the regional and local focus for Association members and in doing so they are preserving the Corps ethos and Esprit de Corps especially for the veterans. The Branch reunion dinners have been well attended and the SMAA, Corps SM and Regt Sec have attended most where they have been impressed with the healthy camaraderie that thrives in our veteran community. This is
encouraging for the SMAA and Corps SM as they both recognise they will become veterans one day.
The Branches are very successful and the many hours of co-ordinating and organising by the Branch committees for the benefit of their members should never be underestimated. The commitment and hard work of the committees is fully appreciated by their Branch members and is also recognised by the Trustees who have agreed to increase the level of Association grants for the Branches which will assist them with their administration duties and also help reduce the cost for those attending their dinners.
Golf is an excellent sport which allows serving and retired members to compete against each other in a competitive environment. Golf is growing in popularity with most Association Branches holding golf competitions at their annual reunions and the RAPTC Festival of Golf attracts serving and retired members.
Continuing this trend; HQ RAPTC held a team building day at Oak Park Golf Club for the military and civilian staff. We did not
Steve Bate, Gareth Thomas and Alan File
uncover a budding Tiger Woods but it did come to light that the Corps SM has been a very good golfer in his early years.
It is not all work and no play within the HQ and Christmas is an obvious break where we all get together for some festive cheer. Before Christmas lunch which was combined with the ASPT Staff it has become tradition for HQ RAPTC to hold a Secret Santa and Capt (MAA) Gary Logan was pleased with his singing hat.
