Bill believes the course instructors were Pictor and Mortimer. Bill did his first PTI course in Canada and was selected to attend Advance course No 72 in Aldershot.
The second photo shows Bill holding his wreath in York in 2017 with the secretary of the RAPTC Association North East Branch Dave Warburton.
Due to Bill and his wife’s enthusiasm towards the Corps I thought it only fitting that they get a mention in our magazine.

BILL ROUSHORN 1ST BN CANADIAN REGIMENT
Dave Warburton
On Sunday 12th November 2017 I attended the Annual Remembrance Parade in York and there met a great guy called Bill Roushorn and his wife Cynthia.
Bill stood out from the crowd with his array of medals fastened to his green jacket. He had a smile from York to Canada and I soon became aware that he loves the RAPTC. Bill had with him photos and memorabilia of the Corps.
I could not believe he was 90 years of age. He was Canadian and now living in York.
Bill was born in Fort William, Ontario, (now thunder Bay), Canada on the 29th of October 1927. He joined the army in on the 17th December 1948 and retired as a M/Cpl on the 9th February 1973 after 25 years’ service.
Bill’s job in his Regiment was PTI. He was keen on Swimming, Diving, Skiing, Gymnastics and Trampolining.
The first photo shows Bill attending Advance Course No 72. It was taken outside of the Headquarters of the Army Physical Training Corps sometime in 1955. Bill is at the end of the front row (not sure which end)

THANK YOU FROM – STEVE KINDER
I would just like to pass on my dad’s thanks and add mine to them for sending the copy of MBS, I have attached a photo of him reading the article from his fellow recruit George Welsh on page 168, I think they might have got their wires crossed about the photographs. He is amazed how things have changed over the years and how technology is a big part of current training.
Thanks to MBS and two comrades from 1945 who are back in touch.
