AS skills whilst working alongside many of the civilian world’s most respected and experienced experts in their fields. Coaching and mentoring skills are also developed while learning from Performance Development coaches renowned both nationally and internationally. I have discovered that being in this environment has enormously benefitted almost every aspect of how I approach rehabilitation.
In conclusion, I would like to thank every single member of the fantastic team I have worked with during my time at the BBC, and encourage all RAPTCIs to consider a posting to this fantastic place.
30 Signal Regiment’s mission is to deliver, at readiness, Combat Command Support (CCS) to the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) and Information Communication Services (ICS) to other
deployed Force Elements (FEs) in the land environment, to support programmed and contingent national, coalition and NATO operations.
With the mission in mind it is by far the busiest unit that I have been attached to, and I have enjoyed every moment of it. The most recent Operation, Op RUMAN, was the joint humanitarian aid operation that provided disaster relief to the UK territories and surrounding areas devastated by Hurricane Irma and subsequently Hurricane Mara. Just to report at how their readiness levels are so effective, 244 Signal Squadron deployed to the Caribbean in support of the Joint Helicopter Force outside of their readiness timeline in a flash to bang time of less than 7 hrs!
It is a pleasure to witness Unit staff actively directing AT, and not the RAPTCI ‘advising/prompting’ to achieve the annual statistics.
The Regiment accomplished several AT Exercises over the last 12 months. Ex DRAGON ALDERNEY was a Type 2 exped conducted around the Snowdonia National Park, and Ex DRAGON BIKING SWAN was a Type 3 Mountain Biking exped in the Harz Mountains, Germany. Support Squadron also conducted a Mountain Bike Exped, with plenty of pre-training prior to both to ensure personnel achieved satisfactory bike skills in a controlled environment. There are also a further 3 AT Ex’s planned throughout 2018, which will hopefully inspire those attending to go on and gain further AT qualifications.
In March 2018, the Regiment hosted their annual Royal Signals Boxing Championships. The aim was to develop boxers within the Royal Signals with the expectation to select a team to represent the Royal Signals in the Army Boxing Championships 2018. I am proud to say this is a very sporty unit with a wide variety of sports accomplished, most notably winning trophy’s in Powerlifting, Swimming and Water Polo.
