G1 Support
Since the arrival of WO1 (SMI) Paul Holden RAPTC in the appointment of SO3 G1 in 2015, the Corps Headquarters has developed a G1 support function that provides an essential service to all serving RAPTC personnel. SMI Holden is well versed in the ‘minefield’ that is welfare and discipline and he provides an unparalleled level of support to our personnel during what can be a difficult time in their career. The knowledge and experience he has accumulated over his 40+ years of Regular and Reserve Service and as a current Justice of the Peace (JP), is invaluable and he is always available to provide guidance and support to our RAPTC family.
Hopefully, the information above has given you a flavour of some of the areas in which the Policy and Plans team in the Corps Headquarters is involved; I will not encroach on my fellow
Headquarters colleagues’ domains, as I am sure that they will provide further updates in their respective departmental articles. In closing, I would like to add that, in comparison to other Arms and Services, the Corps Headquarters is a small team who regularly ‘punch above their weight’, especially when you consider the functions and outputs we perform in support of the Regular and Retired members of the Corps. Therefore, I would like to thank everyone in the Headquarters who do a tremendous job in supporting the SMAA and the Corps on a daily basis, with a special mention to Debbie Winter and Jules Fairclough who provide the sterling administrative support that allows us all to function. On a personal note, I would like to thank the other members of the SMAA’s outer office, Maj (MAA) Steve Collinson RAPTC and WO1 (SMI) Paul Holden RAPTC for their unprecedented guidance and friendly banter over the past 11 months.
