                                THE CADET EXPEDITION
By Sergeant Eva Foots
We are Team Peaches and we have been in the Lake District for the week so that we could complete our Gold DofE expedition. We started bright and early on the Monday morning and safely arrived back on the Thursday afternoon. The members of Team Peaches were Eva Foots, John Dobson, Taylor Higson, Ash Hadfield, and Sam Bamford so here is what we got up to.
Starting with Monday, this was the day that our team got to have our own little ferry trip across Windemere Lake since we couldn’t quite swim across unfortunately. Once getting off the ferry and we had continued walking, not long after the start
of our group’s obsession of eating the blackber-
ries occurred which continued for the rest of our expedition. After a long day we eventually made it
to our first campsite in the rain with the reward of pasta with tomato sauce for tea followed by two syrup cakes with custard cooked by chef Eva.
Day 2 was Tuesday which whilst walking we stumbled across a beautiful view that coincidentally looked like a scene from Jurassic Park. Therefore, Team Peaches felt the absolute need to film and recreate our version of the Jurassic Park opening scene, which came out better than the original in our opinion. Further on through the day near the end of our route we got greeted by a big mountain which the team decided to make it harder for ourselves with the way we climbed it however we still conquered it, and all got to the top with the finish of a sing song. Unfortunately, that day we arrived at the campsite rather later than expected, so we sat by our scented candlelight for noodles with Jamaican cake and custard.
Day 3 was Wednesday, and the morning was started in the pouring rain, but the team still left
the campsite with smiles. Later, in the day John introduced us to Victorian fashion after wading through a stream as in John’s mind it was the best way to dry his waterproofs and trousers at the same time. After the fashion show we then proceeded to walk up a valley and then had to walk back down another valley. Our route was then ended with our first group argument; however, once we arrived onto

campsite all was happy and back to normal. Our final meal together was a curry and syrup cake and custard; however, Taylor was chef of the custard that night which ended in him being labelled custard connoisseur.
Thursday was our final day and the weather seemed to have rewarded us with our first full sunny day. But the weather wasn’t the only thing that rewarded us as we got our perfect ending to our expedition which was ice cream when we had finished.
