Lieutenant Peter Doubell, denoting 44 years of adult uniformed service to the Air Training Corps;
A Certificate reflecting 868 Squadron as the Wing nomination for the Lees Trophy (best squadron in the Air Training Corps);
Specially produced coins in celebration of HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, sourced by South and West Yorkshire Wing for presentation to all cadets, staff and committee members.
After the presentations, cadets gave displays of Continuity Drill, Band Performance and First Aid, and the event was rounded off with a light barbecue lunch and opportunity for guests to mingle and talk to cadets, parents and staff and to participate in a raffle. In return for their efforts during the event, there was also presentation of gifts to the visiting guests.
There was
a warm and friendly feeling to proceedings today
and I was impressed by the turnout of both cadets and parents
Reflecting on the day, Flight Lieutenant Peter Doubell, Officer Commanding 868 Squadron, commented “the first half of this year has been largely focussed on the continued programme of recovery from the effects of the Covid-19 restrictions which so limited what we were able to do. It has been a delight to become active once again in so many areas of activity: flying, gliding, shooting and various camps; even the more routine aspects of our classroom training and first aid – a real honour to demonstrate to the Director of Training for the Royal Air Force Air Cadets that the whole spectrum of training and activity is now firmly underway.”
Wing Commander Daniel commented “I was immensely proud to present you with your 5th
clasp representing 44 years of uniformed service
and I know that figure is somewhat short of your time with us! There was a warm and friendly
feeling to proceedings today and I was impressed
by the turnout of both cadets and parents and
the welcoming spirit evident. You have a fantastic squadron you should be very proud of, and I would
be extremely grateful if you would extend my thanks and gratitude to all your staff, Civilian committee, and padre as I know today was a team effort.”
