Summer events across the county
By Major Mick Bell
The County has had a very busy summer 2022 with a number of high profile events taking place across the region.
In June the County represented the ACF at the National Armed Forces Day event 2022. The Tri-Service Lead for the event was Major Mick Bell; the presence on the ground was provided by A Company under the command of Major Michelle Goodwin. A fantastic effort by all concerned, with over 100,000 visitors on the day, with millions watching on National TV.
The second major event for the County was the running of our first Annual Camp for three years. It was also our first camp under the command of our new Commandant, Colonel Fred Owen. A fantastic effort by all concerned, both Staff and Cadets. The camp was non-stop action with military and adventure training taking place, a Visitors Day, Champion Cadet Competition, Champion Company Competition, we even had time to squeeze in our first Officer’s Mess dinner for a number of years, with the Warrant Officers and Sergeants also holding their first Mess dinner too. In between all that action Colonel Fred managed to present dozens of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medals to qualifying staff.
A picture paints a thousand words so attached are a number of images from our two main events that have taken place since the last issue of the Cadet Review. The images were provided by Major Mick Bell, CSgt Fiona McCallion and CSgt Lewis Wilde, all part of the County PR Cell.
