TS IRON DUKE TAKE PART IN FALKLANDS WAR – SERVICE OF COMMEMORATION
HULL MINSTER
 SUNDAY 19 JUNE 2022
The Falklands Service is an annual event in our calendar but this year was more poignant – the 40th Anniversary. Guests, including Veterans who had taken part in the War, gathered together at
Hull Minster for the Service. VIPs included the Lord-Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, the High Sheriff of East Yorkshire, the Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber, The Service was very special culminating in the Act of Remembrance where the Roll of Honour was read out, listing 255 Service Personnel and 3 Islanders.
Afterwards the cadets took part in a parade led by the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines (Scotland), which ended at the Cenotaph where a further short service was held for wreath laying. It was an honour for TS Iron Duke to march with the Royal Marines Band and the cadets worked hard with their drill practice, with PO (SCC) Glenn Dinsdale at their head.
On the Saturday of the Falklands Weekend, TS Iron Duke took part in an event at the Queen’s Gardens, together with Navy, Army and Veteran Organisations involved in the Falklands Conflict. There were various military displays, children’s workshops, face painting, Live Music from the Humberside Police Band, Army Cadet Force Band, and the Soldiers of Swing. It was a great day out and the cadets enjoyed taking part.
