The Last Burials at Wayne’s Keep
Once Dhekelia Military Cemetery opened, in April 1960, there were no further burials at Wayne’s Keep,
the last military burial here being that of 20 year old Senior Aircraftsman Peter Stanley Westgate, Royal
Air Force, on 12 March 1960, buried in Plot 26, Row B. The last civilian burial occurred the next day, of
Ena Turner, buried alongside SAC Westgate. No age is given for Ena, which very likely means she was a
stillborn child. Her death was a portent of what to expect at Dhekelia Military Cemetery.
