The most senior serving Royal Engineer buried in Cyprus, and the most senior officer buried in Wayne’s 
Keep cemetery, is Colonel Bob Hatch OBE, buried at Wayne’s Keep, in Plot 15, Row C, grave 3.









































Non-War Graves





These are spread between four cemeteries 

in all. There are five burials of serving Royal 
Engineers at Troodos, all from 1879. There are 

two burials at Nicosia British Cemetery. There 
are 36 Royal Engineers buried at Wayne’s Keep 

– the first being Sapper Brown from 1879, 

and the remaining 35 from the ten year span 
1949 to 1959 (starting with Lance Corporal 

Leonard William Langford, died 7 June 1949, 
and ending with Sergeant John Duffy, died 16 

January 1959). There are 50 Royal Engineers 
(serving and retired) buried at Dhekelia Military 

Cemetery (up to the end of 2012).9
