Cemeteries in Cyprus
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission commemorates the 1,700,000 men and women of the
Commonwealth forces who died in the two world wars. The cemeteries, burial plots and memorials
maintained by the CWGC are a lasting tribute to those who died in some 153 countries across the world.
The CWGC Register contains 379 casualty records of servicemen who were buried or cremated in
Cyprus during the two world wars. Website: www.cwgc.org/

There are 6 cemeteries containing CWGC War Graves or memorials in Cyprus. They are Military
Cemetery (4 graves), Polemidia Military Cemetery Limassol (7 graves), Nicosia War Cemetery (213
graves, 73 names on the Nicosia Cremation Memorial and 58 names on the Cyprus (Nicosia) Memorial,
Nicosia British Cemetery (3 graves), Limassol Roman Catholic Cemetery (1 grave), and Famagusta
Military Cemetery (20 graves). The CWGC also maintains a number of non-War Graves in these and
other cemeteries by arrangement with the MOD.

The 6 cemeteries in Cyprus containing CWGC graves
The War Graves Photographic Project is a joint venture with the Commonwealth War Graves
Commission. It aims to photograph every war grave, individual memorial, Ministry of Defence grave,
and family memorial of serving military personnel, covering all nationalities and military conflicts, and
make these available within a searchable database. TWGPP is also undergoing a process of digitally
mapping all the burial sites listed on the CWGC website to assist cemetery visitors and relatives to locate
them using Google Earth. A special link to Google Earth via a symbol of Cyprus shows the location of
