British Cemetery Kyrenia–Shadows of Empire by Dorothyann Betts, with its colourful and fascinating
biographies of 44 individuals buried in this cemetery. The book is available locally in Kyrenia and from

members of the Girne Cemetery Committee, and all proceeds from its sale go to support the ongoing

David Carter’s Britain’s Small Wars lists

all the servicemen (by regiment or service)

who died or were killed on active service
during the Cyprus Emergency 1955 – 1959

(and who are now commemorated on the
British Cyprus Memorial), but in addition

it gives the cause of death, where known.44

TheGenealogist45 This subscription-only genealogy company now owns Last Resting Place, which listed
the Cyprus Emergency servicemen alphabetically, rather than by regiment or service, and also gave the

cause of death, where known. The site also provided a downloadable index of all the burials at Kyrenia
British Cemetery, and photographs of the headstones.
