SINGCHRONICITY
One heart, one voice, one chorus
Join Singchronicity for a positive and sociable experience. Ladies have enjoyed singing with Singchronicity chorus for 14 years. We sing in four-part Harmony in A Capella style, that’s to say that we have no musical accompaniment, like a piano, when we sing.
Our repertoire is varied and includes songs from musicals like ‘Music of the Night’ and
‘I Dreamed a Dream’, pop songs from The Beatles and Adele, as well as older songs like ‘Sentimental Journey’ and ‘My Guy’.
How do we learn our songs? Do you need to be able to read music, you may be asking? Well, we have a website which has teach tracks for all of our songs in all of the four parts.
Sheet music is provided and although you
do not need to know how to read music, it is a useful skill. Singchronicity is a member of the Ladies Association of Barbershop Singers and we enjoy their support and attending their events.
We rehearse our songs on Tuesday evenings and have a cup of tea and a chat in the interval. Anyone who is interested is very welcome to come along and listen on a Tuesday evening. New members are very welcome and are teamed up with a ‘buddy’ for the first few months.
Over the years we have sung at charity events, in care homes, at weddings and we have been successful in both the Oundle and Peterborough music competitions. We like to put on our own shows for family and friends too.
Sadly, our numbers have dropped since the first Covid lockdown which coincided with the planned departure of our highly valued young musical director. Despite much searching we have not yet been able to find a replacement. It’s a position which would ideally suit someone starting out in the directing field who would
be able to grow the Chorus whilst gaining experience. We remain ever hopeful!
We find that singing together is such a positive and sociable experience, one that we’d like to share with others who love to sing. We rehearse at Napier Place, Orton Wistow on Tuesday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm.
