     chosen as one of only 10 finalists. As a finalist she was invited to the House of Lords for an exclusive lunch before travelling to South Africa for 2 weeks.
Lt Simon Protano, County Vocational Officer said “CVQO provides a range of vocational qualifications including BTECs and ILM. This is the first year we have entered the Westminster Award and I am so thrilled for Chlöe to represent ACF Shropshire!” As part of the Westminster Award selection Chlöe was given an opportunity to complete an ILM Level 3 in Leadership and Management giving her a head start to her career.
Shropshire has a strong bond to the Rifles Regiment which is enforced with our high profile Band and Bugles who are a regular sight around the county.
Our Band and Bugles have been extremely busy attending events across the West Midlands including stealing the show at the Stoke Military Tattoo on behalf of the ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity before returning home to play in front of 9,000 fans at Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
Cadets from around Shropshire visited Normandy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. This was an opportunity for them to understand the involvement of the Light Infantry and Rifles during Operation Overlord at what was the site of the largest seaborne invasion in history.
The event came to an emotional end with the cadets attending the Commemorative parade at Arromanches overlooking Gold beach where Cadet Dixon from our very own Band and Bugles played a very emotional “Last Post”
Shropshire Army Cadet Force recently welcomed back a familiar face to the County with Colonel (Retd) Marius Coulon TD who was appointed as the Honorary Colonel. Colonel Coulon is also the current Rifles City Colonel for Birmingham and has a clear goal in his new role as Honorary Colonel which is to encourage and assist the cadets to engage with the local community, non-military groups and gain recognition when and where we can.
