REGIONAL REHABILITATION UNIT COLCHESTER
Sgt (SI) A Attree RAPTC
This year, staff at the Colchester Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU) have been posted out to several places. Sgt (SI) N Attree was deployed to Canada (BATUS) where he was responsible for primary care rehabilitation, mainstream delivery and guidance for permanent staff. Whilst there he was able to get involved with the BATUS Unit health fair for not only our service personnel but those in the Canadian forces. Luckily Nephi also found time to get on some adventurous training; mountain biking in some picturesque locations.
Major Short (OC RRU) deployed to Nepal to assist with the screening process for the Gurkha selection. The OC has bought back many stories but unfortunately too many for this article. Rumour has it he may write a book. Capt McGillion (2iC RRU) is deploying to BATUK in April as OiC the Primary Care Rehabilitation Facility (PCRF) as part of a Temporary Deployed Staff role. Finally, Sgt (SI) A Attree is awaiting a DPHC trawl, however, WO2 A Burt (RTSA) has said that the location will be determined by his prior performance, to that end we are waiting for a winter trawl to the Falkland Islands.
This last year has also been one of preparation for a Care Quality Assurance (CQC) inspection. The inspection primary aim is to assess and ensure that the RRU is performing to the expected standard. The outcome for this report was ‘good’ across the board. Further, an influx of gym equipment has enhanced rehabilitation to injured personnel across the

Eastern Region. WO2 Burt was successful in completing his basic parachuting course in the summer, he is now no longer a penguin and embraces his new nickname ‘Airborne-Burt’.
Sgt (SI) N Attree is also organising a DPHC Eastern Region adventurous training expedition to Cyprus which will be conducted between 18-24 Oct 20. The exercise
