SSgt (SSI) A Stoby RAPTC
This year has once again been a great year for RAPTC Squash. At the Army Inter Corps Squash Championships the ‘A’ team maintained their position in Division 2 while the ‘B’ team secured promotion into Division 2. This means for the first time in my tenure as the RAPTC Squash Secretary both teams will play against one another competitively in the Army Championships 2020!
One highlight from the year is the RAPTC SRA annual match against the Infantry SRA. Having lost the last fixture, we had the bit between our teeth. This match came at a point where everyone seemed to be playing very well. The final score being 4-1 to the RAPTC, meaning this annual battle now stands at 1-1.

where no less than 6 matches each were played, I was crowned the Corps Champion 2019.
The SRA would like to extend their thanks to SMI (Stu) Mann RAPTC for a fantastic training weekend at ITC Catterick in Oct 19, which was specifically chosen to break the divide between the north and the south. After various long drives and a light lunch everyone was on court for a training session followed by individual games. Next was a quick shower and change before SMI Mann paraded everyone at the Mess for a few sociable beers and some fine dining curtesy of JD Wetherspoons. The Saturday consisted of breakfast, a training/skills session and a civilian match that evening before everyone departed on their to see their loved ones for the remainder of the weekend.

We also held the Corps Individual Squash
Championships in Sep 19. In total 7 serving RAPTCIs and 1 association member (Capt (Retd) Mike Moonie) were in attendance, making this a high-quality fixture in the SRA calendar. Names were drawn and the order of play set and after a full exhaustive day of play
The level of all players is increasing year on year, coupled with a continued commitment from all to attend training and matches organised – I can honestly say it has been and still is a pleasure to hold this secretarial appointment.
