RAPTC BASKETBALL

The RAPTC Basketball Squad
The RAPTC Basketball Squad continues its upwards trajectory with its strongest performance ever this season. The team has always made it to the play off stages and displayed high level of skills and talent till the last quarter. However, 2019 has seen the RAPTC Basketball squad facing a formidable opponent in the Army Basketball Inter Corps Championships (ICC) semi- finals. The Squad has finally made it this far and was now facing the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) in the semi-finals, after a strong performance in their group stage. This was a battle of the titans as we showed the RLC we were no pushovers as reflected in the final score of 43-48 to the RLC.
The squad has continuously engaged in several friendly fixtures despite having players scattered across the country on various commitments in preparation for the 2019 Army Basketball ICC held at Prince William of Gloucester Barracks, Grantham.
The 2019 Army Basketball ICC was hosted by the Adjutants General Corps. The RAPTC Basketball squad battled against the ICC 2018 Champions in the semi-final losing by a very narrow margin, which was enough to raise the team spirit having performed extremely well and displayed true sportsmanship on and off the court. to the finals, the squad can now rest assure that the ICC is there for the taking.
This year’s performance has demonstrated the level of talent exhibited on the court that has been developed and exploited by the team coach during training and friendly fixtures. The RAPTC Basketball team is a very small squad with players that are exceptionally talented and committed to the sport. The squad is however continuously scouting for new talent to join the team to maintain its sporting capability. Thanks to Sgt (SI) John RAPTC our newest addition to the team who is responsible for branding and social media engagement, the RAPTC Basketball squad has now attracted civilian as well as military clubs here and abroad who we hope to play against in the near future.
This is a giant step for the RAPTC Basketball squad as we continuously promote the sport within the Corps for new talent, to ensure that RAPTC Basketball remains active and to look forward to a long overdue sports tour in the near future.
For any RAPTCIs wishing to try a new sport and join the RAPTC Basketball Male/Female Team, please contact the team secretary; all levels welcome.
