The 2019 Triathlon Season for the RAPTC Triathlon Team has been the most successful for many years. With incredible athletic performances throughout the year, the team delivered across the Army Triathlon Race Series that spanned Feb to Oct, showing, drive, focus and great determination; working together to ensure they delivered outstanding performances at the Army Triathlon Races. A highlight for the team was after 9 years of hard work the RAPTC Triathlon Team succeeded against fierce competition to recapture the Army Inter-Corps Standard Championships.
Other outstanding performances from the season included a great result by SSgt (SSI) Andy Syrett RAPTC, placing 2nd overall at the Inter-Service Middle Distance – Vitruvian race. Competing against some extremely talented and high-level triathletes from all the services.
Showing the depth of talent in the RAPTC Triathlon Team, several members were selected to represent the Army at the Inter-Service Standard Distance located in Brecon, Wales. All team members

gaining great results with Sgt (SI) N Jones & SSgt (SI) A Syrett achieving top 10 performances.
The last key race of the season for the team to focus on was the K1 Man Middle Distance Race located in Cyprus. The team conducted a hugely successful week of key training sessions and route recces. prior to race day. The whole team produced outstanding performances in arduous conditions on a tough course against the best Triathletes in Cyprus. All 6 members of the team finished inside the Top 10 and SSgt (SSI) Sam Littlewood RAPTC, SSgt (SSI) Mathew Hanson RAPTC, Sgt (SI) N Jones RAPTC and Capt (MMA) ‘Willie’ Wilson RAPTC all achieving Podiums.
2019 has proved to be one of their most successful seasons for the RAPTC Triathlon Team in several years, from the numerous individual podiums, enhancing team cohesion and recruiting new members, representing the Army and the pinnacle of the year winning the Inter-Corps Championships.
