As this is my final submission for 12th Regt RA, I sincerely thank all those that I have worked with here at Thorney Island it has been an absolute pleasure. Reflecting on my time here I have seen a significant change within the gymnasium and myself. The gym is of the highest standard that any unit would be proud of. I hope that the excellence produced continues way after my tenure.
The pace of life continues to be busy. Physical development, sport and adventurous training continue to dominate the busy schedule for the Regiment. The Regiment are punching way above its weight and again this year we have won the Victor Ladoroum competition for both male and female again. This is an internal Artillery sporting competition. An achievement that I am extremely proud of.
The Regiment continue to support Op Cabrit, Op Toral and 1x Bty training in Canada the tempo does not get any easier. However, the gym has adapted, and we continue to provide as much PD to help the guys and girls prepare for their deployment.
Manning has never been so good with 12 x AAPTI’s form across all the Bty’s, it helps make my life easier as the RAPTCI. We have fully embraced our surroundings on the Island and have developed more time within the PT programme to optimise performance with coaching workshops etc, education is Key!
Externally I have been busy running the UK south female festival of sport as well as providing support to the Brigade. I continue to

teach cadets once a week at Churcher’s college, this has been very rewarding seeing them develop. Internally I have run games nights within the mess, organised Ski trips and sporting trips. The reason I say this as I am a firm believer that being an attached cap badge you should fully embrace life within the Regiment.
The gym has led the way on the charity front this year. One of the highlights was running another Regimental Boxing night in support of the RA charitable fund. It was different to be the MC on the night however I thoroughly enjoyed it, helping to raise money for a worthwhile cause. I also helped raise money for a close friend Mr Daniel Arnold co-founder of All Call Signs. The aim was to run as many 1 mile loops as possible in a 24 hr period open to all serving members on camp; with the aim of reaching Op Cabrit in distance. We exceed our expectations by well over 700 miles reaching a total of 1920 miles. This helped All Call Signs who eventually won a much-deserved MILLIE award. Lastly I completed the med ball challenge. Carrying a 4kg med ball around for a week to help create awareness for mental health for serving and the veteran community.
Looking forward to the future the Regiment will be growing in size, but remain at Thorney Island. Looking back at my time here, I can honestly say it has been my career highlight. It has confirmed the reason why I wanted to transfer into the RAPTC. I have nothing but positive things to say about the Regt and location and I wish my predecessor all the best. I am Now looking forward to moving to the Grenadier Guards and the challenges that lie ahead.
